Ritual

The function of ritual is to give form to human
life, not in the way of mere surface arrangement, but
in depth.
— Joseph Campbell, Myths to Live By

What is ritual in the world of the sensualist?

Over the years I’ve been practicing my art, I’ve
incorporated a number of rituals into my
sessions. From asking specific questions of the
seeker on their way into my space, lighting candles to
bring fire and passion into the session space, to
offering a shower after the end of the session for
cleansing.

Rituals bring our consciousness into the present.
They honor the symbolic essence of our world, and
celebrate the moment of our creation with intent.

I find when I set up a ritual space, I am aware
with greater clarity the details of that space. How
the space is arranged, what symbols I desire to
invoke in the space, how to create a feeling that will
connect the space to a larger hallowed context.

Ritual is unique for everyone. Each of us has
different symbols that call to us. In setting up
a ritual space it is important to bring with us
those energies. Do you have sea shells to represent the
sea and the tides of life? Do you incorporate rocks
as the strength and healing of the earth?

What important aspects of the world do you bring to your
sharing?

What about a ritual bath? To wash away the past,
and open yourself up to the possibilities of the
present? A drink of wine to partake in the bounty of life?

What does ritual look like to you? What are your
symbols?

Blessed be.

Body Mechanics for the sexually adventurous

I have come upon a interesting thought.

When I was in massage school they kept talking about the importance of body mechanics. The position of you body when doing a massage so you do not hurt yourself while preforming massage techniques.

What about different physical service practitioners? With sexuality being taboo and stereotyped in our society, where are the suggestions for body mechanics in this field? Let us talk about body awareness. What is your body doing, and how can you enjoy these wonderful, pleasurable activities without doing harm to your body?

More soon.
